Role Overview
As the Hospital Food Service Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the food service operations within our healthcare facilities, ensuring that all meals meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and nutrition. You will lead a dedicated team to create an exceptional dining experience for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to regulatory requirements and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily food service operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and service delivery
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Monitor inventory levels and manage food procurement to optimize cost-effectiveness
- Lead and mentor food service staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare professionals to create nutritious meal options tailored to patient needs
- Evaluate and enhance food service programs based on patient and staff feedback
- Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring financial targets are met
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and dietary guidelines
- Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or a similar organization
- Experience with menu development and nutrition analysis software
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for operational efficiency
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in food service management software and electronic health record systems
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and procurement processes
- Experience with nutritional analysis tools and dietary management software
