Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Horticulture Instructor to join our esteemed educational institution. In this role, you will support the lead instructor in delivering high-quality horticulture education to students, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of plant sciences, sustainable practices, and landscape management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of horticulture curriculum with a focus on practical and theoretical knowledge
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences in the greenhouse, gardens, and laboratories
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students, helping them to cultivate their skills in plant care and horticultural design
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic and personal growth
- Collaborate with the lead instructor to organize workshops, field trips, and other experiential learning opportunities
- Engage in research and community outreach initiatives to promote horticultural education and awareness
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant biology, landscape design, and sustainable agricultural practices
- Previous experience in teaching or mentoring students in a horticultural setting
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Horticulture or a related field
- Experience with curriculum development and instructional design
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in greenhouse management and plant propagation techniques
- Familiarity with horticultural software and tools for landscape design
- Experience with soil and plant health assessment methodologies
