Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Herbarium Collections to lead and enhance our herbarium's initiatives, ensuring the preservation and accessibility of our botanical specimens. This pivotal role will involve strategic oversight of collection management, research, and educational outreach, while fostering collaborations with academic and conservation entities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the growth and management of herbarium collections, aligning with the organization's mission and goals.
- Oversee the cataloging, digitization, and conservation of botanical specimens to ensure their accessibility for research and public education.
- Foster collaboration with researchers, educators, and community partners to promote the use of herbarium resources in scientific studies and educational programs.
- Lead a team of curators and technicians, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in collections management.
- Secure funding and resources for herbarium projects through grant writing, partnerships, and community engagement.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Botany, Plant Sciences, or a related field with extensive experience in herbarium management.
- Proven track record of leadership in collections management, including experience with digitization and conservation practices.

- Demonstrated ability to secure funding through grants and collaborative projects.
Preferred:
- Experience in managing large herbarium collections and familiarity with herbarium databases and software.
