Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Health and Safety to lead our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety across our operations. In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs, fostering a culture of proactive risk management and compliance throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a company-wide health and safety strategy that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring effective communication and training across all levels of the organization.
- Monitor and assess health and safety performance metrics, conducting audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and compliance gaps.
- Engage with senior leadership to drive a culture of safety, presenting findings, recommendations, and strategic initiatives to enhance overall health and safety performance.
- Provide expert guidance on health and safety legislation and standards, managing relationships with regulatory agencies and external auditors.
- Develop and deliver training programs that promote awareness and compliance with health and safety regulations among employees.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in health and safety management, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to our industry.
- Experience developing and managing comprehensive health and safety programs that have demonstrably reduced workplace incidents.
- Proven ability to influence and engage employees at all levels to foster a culture of safety.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Experience in a multi-site operational environment with a strong focus on risk management and compliance.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in risk assessment and management tools and methodologies.
- Experience with incident management systems and health and safety software solutions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
