Role Overview
We are seeking a Harvest Manager to oversee the planning and execution of our harvest operations, ensuring optimal yield and quality. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in agricultural management and operations to lead a team while implementing innovative practices that align with our sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement harvest plans based on crop readiness and market demand, optimizing resource allocation and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with agronomists and farm teams to monitor crop conditions and determine the appropriate timing for harvest activities.
- Manage the logistics of harvest operations, including scheduling, staffing, and equipment utilization to ensure timely completion.
- Monitor and analyze harvest performance metrics, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet quality and yield targets.
- Lead and mentor harvest staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices related to food safety and environmental sustainability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in agricultural operations or harvest management.
- Strong understanding of crop production cycles and harvest technology.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
Preferred:
- Experience with precision agriculture techniques and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with organic farming practices and sustainability initiatives.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in agricultural management software and tools for planning and monitoring harvest operations.
- Experience with farm equipment and machinery, including harvesters and sorting technologies.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in agriculture.
