Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Grant Accounting to lead our financial operations related to grant funding. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the accounting functions for all grants, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while providing financial insights to drive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead the grant accounting team, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure a high level of performance and professional development.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures specific to grant management, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with program managers to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of grant expenditures.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and reconciliations related to grant funding.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors during grant audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on grant accounting or compliance.
- Strong knowledge of federal grant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Proven experience in managing a team and leading financial operations.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- CPA or equivalent financial certification.
- Experience with financial management software and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to implement best practices in grant accounting and compliance.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.
