Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Fund Accounting to lead our fund accounting team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Lead the fund accounting team, overseeing daily operations and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and reporting
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for stakeholders, including investors and regulatory bodies
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure timely resolution of any audit findings
- Oversee the reconciliation of fund accounts and ensure timely processing of transactions
- Collaborate with IT to enhance financial systems and reporting tools, ensuring they meet the needs of the fund accounting team
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting, with at least 4 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations applicable to investment funds
- Experience with financial reporting and audits in a complex financial environment
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Accounting or an MBA
- CPA or CFA certification
- Experience with alternative investments, private equity, or hedge funds
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in fund accounting software (e.g., Investran, eFront)
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis
- Familiarity with accounting and compliance software solutions
