Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief of Surgery to lead our surgical department and drive excellence in patient care, surgical innovation, and departmental growth. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing strategic clinical initiatives that enhance surgical practices, ensure optimal patient outcomes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement among our surgical teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive surgical strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and objectives.
- Oversee all surgical operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate surgical staff, promoting professional development and ensuring high levels of performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including anesthesia, nursing, and administrative staff to enhance surgical processes and outcomes.
- Drive clinical research initiatives and innovative practices to advance surgical techniques and technologies.
- Monitor and analyze surgical outcomes, utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve patient care.
- Engage with patients and families to ensure exceptional care experiences and address any concerns related to surgical procedures.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited surgical residency program.
- Board certification in surgery.
- 10+ years of clinical experience in a surgical role, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of surgical best practices, patient safety regulations, and quality improvement methodologies.
Preferred:
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading surgical departments or programs.
- Fellowship training in a specialty area of surgery is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and surgical management software.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and patient outcomes tracking systems.
