Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Pilot to lead our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the flight operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance within our organization. You will play a critical role in shaping the operational strategy and fostering a culture of excellence in aviation safety and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all flight operations for EMS, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company policies
- Develop and implement operational procedures and training programs to enhance safety and efficiency
- Conduct regular audits and safety assessments to identify risks and implement corrective measures
- Collaborate with medical staff, ground operations, and external agencies to ensure seamless patient transport and care
- Provide strategic oversight for the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of pilot personnel
- Act as a primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and industry partners regarding flight operations
- Monitor and analyze operational metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in the development and execution of the organization's long-term strategic goals
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Commercial pilot license with instrument rating and a minimum of 5,000 flight hours, including 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command
- Extensive experience in EMS operations or similar aviation environments
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and safety protocols
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing flight operations teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience with rotorcraft operations in an EMS context
- Certification as a flight instructor or experience in pilot training
- Advanced degree in aviation management or related field
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in aviation safety management systems and risk assessment tools
- Familiarity with flight operations management software and tools
- Understanding of advanced navigation and communication systems utilized in EMS operations
