Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Chief Ferry Captain to lead our ferry operations at [$COMPANY_NAME], ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transportation across our designated routes. Responsibilities
- Command the ferry vessel while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and navigation regulations
- Supervise and train crew members, ensuring operational readiness and efficiency
- Coordinate with the operations team to schedule ferry services and manage route changes effectively
- Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions to ensure compliance with maritime safety standards
- Maintain accurate logs of all navigation, operations, and incidents, reporting any irregularities to management
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and ensure all maritime laws and safety regulations are met
- Act as the primary point of contact during emergencies, leading response efforts and communicating effectively with all stakeholders
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in maritime operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Valid Master’s License (60 Ton or greater) and relevant certifications for operating passenger ferry vessels
- Extensive knowledge of navigation systems, maritime regulations, and safety protocols
Preferred:
- Experience with modern ferry systems and operational management software
- Proven track record of successfully leading large teams and managing complex operational challenges
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and best practices in maritime operations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in navigation and communication systems, including radar, GPS, and AIS
- Experience with vessel maintenance protocols and emergency response planning
- Familiarity with maritime logistics and passenger management systems
