Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of English Department to lead our English curriculum and facilitate a culture of literary excellence and academic achievement. In this pivotal role, you will drive strategic initiatives to enhance the educational landscape, fostering student engagement and promoting a love for literature and language.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students and aligns with educational standards.
- Lead a team of English educators, providing mentorship and professional development to enhance teaching practices.
- Collaborate with other department heads to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and enrich the overall academic experience.
- Evaluate student performance and curriculum effectiveness, utilizing data to inform instructional improvements and enhance student outcomes.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages student participation and nurtures a passion for reading and writing.
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities, such as literary clubs, writing workshops, and author visits, to further engage students in the English language.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- 5+ years of teaching experience in English or Language Arts, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies in English education.
- Proven track record of fostering student achievement and engagement.
Preferred:
- Experience in developing innovative teaching methodologies and integrating technology into the classroom.
- Background in literature or creative writing, with a passion for promoting diverse literary voices.
- Familiarity with educational assessment tools and data analysis for curriculum improvement.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in educational technology tools and platforms, including learning management systems.
- Ability to utilize data analytics to assess student performance and curriculum effectiveness.
- Experience with online teaching methodologies and blended learning approaches.
