Role Overview

Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough behavioral assessments of dogs to identify issues and develop tailored intervention strategies

- Educate dog owners on canine behavior and training techniques, fostering a collaborative owner-trainer relationship
- Monitor and document progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve desired outcomes
- Collaborate with veterinarians, groomers, and other professionals to address underlying health issues contributing to behavioral problems
- Stay current with the latest research in canine behavior and training methodologies, applying new insights to practice
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Proven experience (3+ years) working with dogs in a training or behavior modification capacity
- Certification in canine behavior or dog training from a recognized organization (e.g., CPDT, ABC, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of canine body language and behavior signals
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to dog owners
Preferred:
- Experience in working with aggressive or fearful dogs and knowledge of specific training techniques for these behaviors
- Background in animal welfare or shelter environments
- Familiarity with various training equipment and tools, and experience in developing training programs for diverse canine populations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in behavioral assessment tools and techniques
- Experience with video analysis for training purposes and behavior observation
- Knowledge of various training methodologies (e.g., clicker training, obedience, agility)
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Empathy and patience when working with both dogs and their owners
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt strategies based on individual dog needs
