Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head Diamond Grader to lead our diamond grading department. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in diamond evaluation and grading, utilizing your expertise to mentor a team of graders and uphold our commitment to excellence in the luxury jewelry market.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the diamond grading process, ensuring compliance with established grading standards and protocols.
- Develop and implement best practices for diamond evaluation, including clarity, cut, color, and carat weight assessments.
- Mentor and train junior graders, fostering a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.
- Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to provide expert input on diamond quality and value.
- Conduct regular audits of graded diamonds to maintain consistency and accuracy across all evaluations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in diamond grading technology to ensure our practices are cutting-edge.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in diamond grading, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in various grading techniques.
- Graduate Gemologist (GG) certification or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced grading technologies and tools, such as gem microscopes and spectrometers.
- In-depth knowledge of diamond market trends and pricing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in diamond grading criteria and standards.
- Proficient in the use of gemological tools and equipment.
- Familiarity with inventory management and quality control systems.
