Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Supervising Sonographer to lead our ultrasound team in delivering exceptional diagnostic imaging services. In this pivotal role, you will oversee sonographic procedures, ensure compliance with clinical standards, and mentor junior sonographers, contributing to our mission of providing comprehensive and compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the ultrasound department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely patient care.
- Perform a variety of sonographic examinations, including abdominal, obstetric, and vascular studies, while maintaining high-quality imaging standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior sonographers and staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret ultrasound results and develop optimal patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of procedures, findings, and patient interactions in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of ultrasound equipment, troubleshooting any technical issues that arise.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in ultrasound.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a diagnostic imaging department.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology as related to sonography.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred:
- Additional certifications in specialized areas of sonography (e.g., OB/GYN, vascular).
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software.
- Demonstrated ability to implement quality improvement initiatives in a clinical setting.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in operating and troubleshooting various ultrasound machines and technologies.
- Familiarity with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and radiology information systems.
- Proficient in performing ultrasound-guided procedures and interventions.
