Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Database Security Architect to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures to protect our database environments. You will leverage your expertise to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices while fostering a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement advanced security controls for database systems, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and ensure proactive remediation
- Develop and enforce database security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures into the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Monitor database activity for unusual patterns and potential security incidents, responding swiftly to mitigate threats
- Provide training and mentorship to the development and operations teams on secure database practices
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in database security architecture, database administration, or related fields
- Deep knowledge of database security principles, technologies, and best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access controls
- Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS
- Proven ability to design and implement effective security strategies and incident response plans
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL)
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS benchmarks
- Familiarity with penetration testing tools and techniques
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in database security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and data loss prevention solutions
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of security tasks
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) solutions
