Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Database Administration to lead our database management team. This role is critical in ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of our database systems while driving innovative solutions that align with our business objectives. You will be responsible for setting the vision and direction of the database architecture, ensuring reliability, and optimizing operations across all database environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of database administrators, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Architect and oversee the implementation of robust database solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Establish best practices for database management, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define database requirements and ensure alignment with application development and infrastructure goals.
- Monitor database performance and capacity, conducting regular audits to identify areas for optimization and enhancement.
- Develop and manage database policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity, availability, and confidentiality.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in database management practices.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in database administration with a focus on large-scale database environments.
- Proven track record of leading database teams and managing complex database projects.
- Expertise in database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, with an emphasis on performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices.
- Experience with cloud database solutions, including AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate are preferred.

- Experience with database automation and orchestration tools.
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
