Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) to lead and enhance our privacy strategy, ensuring that our operations and data management practices align with both regulatory requirements and best practices in data privacy. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures that protect our customers' data while fostering a culture of accountability and transparency across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of the company's global privacy program, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in privacy legislation and assess the impact on the organization, providing strategic guidance to senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy by design into products and services, ensuring the protection of personal data throughout the data lifecycle.
- Conduct regular privacy risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data subjects and regulatory authorities regarding privacy inquiries and complaints.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on privacy obligations and best practices.
- Lead incident response efforts related to data breaches and manage the communication strategy in alignment with legal and regulatory obligations.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance roles, with a strong understanding of global privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and others.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective privacy programs in complex organizations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex privacy concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience managing data privacy incidents and leading investigations.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in law, business, or a related field.
- Certification such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or similar.
- Experience working in a technology-driven environment with a focus on data innovation and user experience.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in data governance frameworks and privacy management tools.
- Proficiency in conducting privacy impact assessments and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with data protection technologies and solutions (e.g., encryption, access controls, data minimization).
