Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) to lead our organization's data privacy initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations while fostering a culture of data protection across all levels of the company. The CPO will work closely with executive leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive privacy strategy that aligns with our corporate mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the implementation of the company's global privacy strategy, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Lead the establishment of privacy governance frameworks and policies, including risk assessments and compliance audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, IT, and operations, to promote a culture of privacy and accountability
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of privacy controls and programs, making recommendations for improvement
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, managing any inquiries or investigations
- Advise on privacy impact assessments for new projects, products, or services
- Provide training and education to employees regarding privacy best practices and compliance obligations
- Stay current on global privacy regulations and trends to proactively address emerging risks
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, compliance, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex privacy projects and initiatives
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence at all levels of the organization
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in law, information security, or a related field
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or similar
- Experience in a technology-driven environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data protection technologies and practices
- Experience with data governance frameworks and tools
- Knowledge of risk management methodologies and frameworks
