Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and visionary VP of Data Center Operations to lead our global data center strategy and execution at [$COMPANY_NAME]. In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, and scaling of our data center facilities, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency across our infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data center operations strategy aligned with business goals, focusing on capacity planning, infrastructure optimization, and cost management.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of operations managers, engineers, and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of data center infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and environmental regulations.
- Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency, including automation, process optimization, and the integration of advanced technologies such as AI and IoT.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, engineering, and finance to support business continuity, disaster recovery, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational effectiveness, reliability, and cost efficiency, reporting regularly to executive leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure high-quality service delivery and cost-effective procurement of equipment and services.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data center operations and infrastructure management to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in data center operations or related fields, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale data centers, including experience with facility design, capacity planning, and operational excellence.
- Deep understanding of data center technologies, including power, cooling, networking, and storage solutions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, including hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, SSAE 16).
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management and operational excellence frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience with capacity planning tools and energy management systems.
