Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Farm Operations to lead our agricultural initiatives from the ground up. This role will be pivotal in overseeing the entire farm operations, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in our practices while aligning with our mission to revolutionize modern agriculture.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies that drive productivity and sustainability across all farm operations.
- Lead the management of daily farm activities, including planting, cultivation, harvesting, and distribution, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee and optimize the use of resources, including labor, equipment, and inputs, to maximize yield and minimize waste.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing innovative agricultural techniques and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including agronomists, supply chain, and marketing, to align operational goals with business objectives.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring profitability and sustainability of farm operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop farm management teams to enhance their skills and performance.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and drive accountability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in agricultural operations management, with a proven track record of overseeing large-scale farming activities.
- In-depth knowledge of agricultural best practices, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in developing and mentoring staff.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Business Management, or a related field.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analytics.
- Familiarity with organic and sustainable farming practices.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in farm management software and tools, as well as GIS and remote sensing technologies.
- Experience with budgeting and financial management tools.
- Knowledge of crop management systems and agricultural machinery.
