Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Chief County Bailiff to lead our team in maintaining order and security in the courtroom and throughout the county judicial system. This role is vital for ensuring the efficient operation of court proceedings and the safety of all participants, including judges, jurors, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the activities of bailiffs and court security personnel to ensure compliance with judicial orders and procedures.
- Coordinate courtroom security measures, including the screening of individuals and property entering the courthouse.
- Assist the court in managing cases by providing security during trials, hearings, and other judicial proceedings.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to address security concerns and facilitate safe transportation of defendants when necessary.
- Develop and implement training programs for bailiffs to enhance their skills in courtroom management and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and security breaches, reporting them to the appropriate judicial authorities.
- Act as a liaison between the court and public, addressing inquiries and ensuring a respectful atmosphere is upheld.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement or court security roles.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Strong knowledge of courtroom procedures, legal terminology, and security protocols.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in a supervisory role within a judicial or law enforcement environment.
