Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic therapy team. In this role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement individualized treatment plans for patients, helping them achieve their therapeutic goals and improve their daily living skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living training, and mobility assistance
- Monitor patient progress and document changes in their condition, providing feedback to the occupational therapist
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and strategies to enhance recovery
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring that all equipment is properly functioning and sanitized
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and state licensure
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Preferred:
- Experience working in a clinical setting with diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Continuing education in specialized therapy techniques or certifications
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using therapeutic equipment and modalities
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapy practices and assessment tools
- Experience with telehealth technologies for remote patient monitoring and therapy sessions
