Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief Climatologist to lead our climate research initiatives and drive data-driven solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation. In this pivotal role, you will leverage advanced modeling techniques and interdisciplinary approaches to address complex environmental challenges, influencing policy and organizational strategy to foster resilience and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee climate research projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and funding opportunities
- Develop and implement innovative climate models that predict environmental changes and assess their socio-economic impacts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into actionable strategies for stakeholders and policymakers
- Engage with external partners, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, to advocate for evidence-based climate policies
- Present findings and insights to diverse audiences, including executive leadership, scientific communities, and public forums
- Mentor and guide junior scientists in best practices for research methodology, data analysis, and climate communication
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Climate Science, Environmental Science, or a related field with a focus on climatology
- 10+ years of experience in climate research, with a proven track record of leading interdisciplinary teams
- Deep expertise in climate modeling and statistical analysis, with proficiency in tools such as Python, R, or MATLAB
- Strong understanding of climate policy frameworks and sustainability practices
Preferred:
- Experience in public speaking and engagement with policy-makers at various levels
- Track record of successful funding proposals for large-scale climate initiatives
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in climate monitoring and data visualization
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Advanced proficiency in climate modeling software and statistical tools
- Experience with remote sensing data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Understanding of machine learning applications in climate science
