Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant City Comptroller to join our finance team. In this role, you will support the financial operations of the city by ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective fiscal management. You will collaborate with various departments to optimize financial processes and contribute to the city's financial strategy.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of the city's financial statements and reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP standards.
- Monitor city revenues and expenditures, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct financial audits and reviews to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage departmental budgets, providing training and support as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other compliance documents, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or auditing, preferably in a governmental or public sector environment.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience with municipal finance and budget preparation.
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar credential.

- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial management software.
