Role Overview
We are seeking a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) to join our esteemed investigation team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to conduct thorough investigations into fire and explosion incidents, providing critical analysis and insights that drive safety improvements and risk mitigation strategies in various environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive investigations of fire and explosion incidents, including scene examination, evidence collection, and analysis of fire patterns
- Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, causes, and contributing factors of incidents, ensuring clarity and accuracy for legal and insurance purposes
- Collaborate with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to support ongoing investigations and share critical insights
- Provide expert testimony in court and other legal proceedings as necessary
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in fire investigation techniques, and relevant legal standards
- Train and mentor junior investigators and peers in best practices of fire investigation methodology
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification
- 5+ years of experience in fire investigation or a related field
- Strong knowledge of fire dynamics, origin and cause determination, and investigative techniques
- Proven ability to analyze complex situations and draw logical conclusions based on evidence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on report writing and presenting findings
Preferred:
- Experience working in both public and private sectors
- Additional certifications such as Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certifications
- Familiarity with forensic engineering principles and practices
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in fire investigation tools and methodologies, including fire modeling software
- Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with evidence collection and preservation techniques
