Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Fire and Explosion Investigator to lead our investigative team in analyzing and determining the causes and origins of fire and explosion incidents. In this pivotal role, you will not only spearhead investigations but also develop strategic protocols and methodologies for complex cases, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee comprehensive investigations into fire and explosion incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and analysis of findings.
- Develop and implement advanced methodologies and best practices for fire scene analysis and evidence collection.
- Serve as a key technical advisor to both internal teams and external stakeholders, including legal counsel and law enforcement agencies.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for team members and external parties on fire investigation techniques and safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in fire investigation technology and methodologies, applying innovative solutions to enhance investigative accuracy.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in fire investigation, with a proven track record of leading complex investigations.
- Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or equivalent certification.
- In-depth knowledge of fire behavior, explosion dynamics, and forensic science principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
Preferred:
- Experience with legal proceedings related to fire investigations, including expert witness testimony.
- Advanced degrees in Fire Science, Forensic Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA and ASTM.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in fire investigation software and tools, including thermal imaging and gas detection equipment.
- Experience utilizing data analysis tools to interpret incident data and trends.
- Knowledge of building construction, electrical systems, and hazardous materials.
