Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Transcription Supervisor to lead our team of transcriptionists in delivering accurate and timely medical documentation. This role is critical in ensuring that our transcription services meet the highest quality standards, providing essential support to healthcare professionals and facilitating patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the medical transcription department, managing workflow and ensuring adherence to quality standards
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members to promote professional development
- Implement and maintain transcription quality assurance processes, including audits and performance metrics
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation requirements and ensure that all transcription is completed in accordance with medical terminology and standards
- Train new transcriptionists on best practices, software tools, and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Stay current with industry trends and changes in medical terminology, technology, and regulations
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in medical transcription, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation standards
- Proficient in using transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred:
- Experience with quality assurance processes and performance management
- Certification from a recognized medical transcription professional organization (e.g., AHDI)
- Familiarity with voice recognition software and its integration into transcription workflows
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in transcription software, medical coding, and EHR systems
- Strong typing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and data privacy regulations in healthcare
