Role Overview
We are seeking an innovative and passionate Camp Director to lead our fully remote camp experience. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and delivering an engaging virtual camp program that fosters community, learning, and fun for participants of all ages. You will leverage your leadership skills to inspire a team of counselors, develop enriching activities, and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all campers.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive virtual camp program that meets the diverse needs and interests of campers
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of camp counselors to deliver high-quality programming
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
- Manage daily operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture by promoting teamwork and collaboration among staff and campers
- Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on camper progress and program developments
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and outcomes
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in camp management or youth program coordination
- Strong understanding of child development and best practices in youth engagement
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in education, recreation management, or a related field
- Experience with virtual programming and online engagement tools
- First Aid and CPR certification
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack)
- Experience with educational software and digital content creation
- Familiarity with social media and marketing strategies to promote camp activities
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Creative problem solver with a passion for youth development
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Empathetic and approachable, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and pivot programming as needed
