Role Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable Biomedical Equipment Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of biomedical equipment used in healthcare settings, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and validate biomedical equipment, ensuring it meets regulatory standards and functions correctly
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a variety of medical devices, including imaging systems, patient monitoring equipment, and therapeutic devices
- Work closely with clinical staff to provide training on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory management
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry standards to recommend upgrades and improvements
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers for equipment procurement and technical support
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, biomedical technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair
- Strong knowledge of medical device regulations, standards, and safety protocols
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving technical issues
Preferred:
- Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or equivalent
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and technology integration
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in the operation and maintenance of medical imaging equipment, such as MRI and CT scanners
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting biomedical devices
- Understanding of networked medical devices and cybersecurity principles
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
