Your Impact on our Mission:
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (SDE) to join our Data Platform team. In this role, you will own and evolve the data platform that connects producers and consumers, building the contracts, frameworks, and endpoints that ensure our data is reliable, transparent, and secure. You’ll collaborate with product engineers, analytics engineers, and other stakeholders to make Zocdoc’s data ecosystem more efficient, scalable, and compliant.
The Data Platform team focuses on data quality, governance, and lifecycle management. As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in establishing standards, contracts, and tools that allow data to be responsibly shared and activated across the company.

Your day to day is…
- Owning and evolving data contracts, schemas, and frameworks that govern how data is exchanged between producers and consumers.
- Building and maintaining endpoints and tooling that streamline ingestion, validation, and discovery of data.
- Developing processes for data quality monitoring, validation, and observability.
- Partnering with product engineers, analytics engineers, and security teams to enforce standards and compliance requirements.
- Managing metadata and governance systems (e.g., Unity Catalog, Collibra, OpenMetadata) to improve discoverability and lineage.
- Supporting education and adoption of data culture and best practices across Zocdoc.
- Leveraging experience with customer data platforms (CDPs) to extend governance and activation frameworks as Zocdoc grows.
You’ll be successful in this role if you have…
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on platform, governance, or quality frameworks.
- Expertise in Python and SQL, with a track record of designing scalable pipelines and data models.
- Familiarity with data contracts, schema enforcement, and validation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with lakehouse architectures (Databricks, Delta Lake/Iceberg) and data warehouses (Snowflake).
- Exposure to customer data platforms (Segment, mParticle, or homegrown CDPs), particularly in data development and governance contexts.
- Experience with orchestration (Dagster, Airflow) and CI/CD workflows.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills to partner effectively with producers and consumers.
Bonus if you have…
- Experience building data quality frameworks or governance tools.
- Exposure to reverse ETL and operational activation of data.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks for PHI/PII.
- Knowledge of metadata and lineage systems like Unity Catalog, Collibra, or OpenMetadata.
