Engineering Manager (Fully Remote in Poland)

About the team:

Our team is dedicated to empowering members to share their reality in meaningful, trustworthy, and rewarding ways that generate high-quality data for our clients. We focus on three key pillars: creating resonant data collection methods that drive business growth through premium features and new markets; building lasting engagement that transforms data sharing into community participation; and enabling transparent account management that aligns with ethical data practices. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining our data connection hub across web and mobile platforms, including banking connections, streaming and shopping data integration, as well as our YouGov Plus offering. By creating a seamless, engaging platform rooted in trust, we facilitate long-term member participation that delivers high-value data while contributing to overall platform efficiency through scalable solutions and strategic feature management.

Here’s a summary of the role:

As an Engineering Manager you have a deep understanding of your teams' technology. You are able to represent your team's needs and interests to stakeholders and other company leaders. You make sure that the decisions your team makes are aligned with YouGov's long term goals and vision. You own delivery and technical solutions within the team. You not only are a technological leader but also a people leader. You help your teammates grow through delegation, feedback and regular 1:1's. You play an active role in the Engineering Management team shaping the entire YouGov Engineering Organisation.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

• Working closely with the teams of developers and product managers to ensure the best solutions by applying the best process and tools
• Being responsible for ensuring that the product vision is realised through excellence in execution
• Empower your team members, and make sure that they are inspired and have a feeling of ownership and progression.
• Shape your team's structure, and be a hiring manager for your team.
• Implement technical solutions and processes that foster a healthy and efficient engineering organisation.
• Actively looking for opportunities to automate tasks to increase team efficiency.

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:  

• Have expert knowledge of modern web technologies and deep knowledge of the software development process to deliver timely high-quality software
• You have an engineering background (SW development).
• You are a good communicator.
• You are able to accurate translate technical jargon and complicated concepts into something simple and understandable.
• You speak English fluently
• You have an entrepreneurship mentality. You are a self-starter and self-motivated
• You have previously managed engineers or projects.
