The modern world presents humanity with a series of grand challenges, from climate change and resource scarcity to global health crises and educational disparities. Many of these complex problems persist because traditional approaches to innovation can be slow, siloed, and risk-averse. Customers of the future – every single person on this planet – deserve a world of abundance and equity, but achieving this requires radical breakthroughs and a significant acceleration of technological progress. This is where the XPRIZE Foundation steps in. We believe that the solutions to humanity's biggest hurdles can come from anyone, anywhere. Our customers are the innovators, the dreamers, the garage tinkerers, and the brilliant scientists who have the potential to change the world but may lack the necessary platform or incentive to bring their audacious ideas to life.

To address this, XPRIZE designs and operates large-scale, high-profile, incentivized prize competitions. This model is built for our customers – the global community of innovators. By setting a clear, audacious, and measurable goal, we provide a target for them to aim for. Instead of funding a single approach, we inspire a multitude of teams to compete, fostering a diverse ecosystem of solutions. This competitive environment de-risks innovation for the world by crowdsourcing a wide range of ideas and technologies. For example, the original $10 million Ansari XPRIZE for private spaceflight unlocked a multi-billion dollar commercial space industry, demonstrating the power of our customer-centric approach. Our competitions empower teams to secure funding, attract talent, and gain visibility, ultimately accelerating the development of their breakthroughs. We provide the framework and the finish line; our customers provide the genius and the drive to cross it, creating a more hopeful and abundant future for all.
