This position is remote in the US and will require travel as needed.

In this role you will establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Wisk Way, our standard for model-based definition (MBD), CAD methodologies, and digital design practices. This role is accountable for driving excellence in how engineering teams create, manage, review, release, and reuse 3D models and associated datasets within Siemens NX and Teamcenter.

In addition to being the technical expert for NX practices, this position will serve as the process owner and lead SME for NX- and CAD-related PLM initiatives, ensuring that design workflows, modeling standards, and data structures support program requirements, certification readiness, and the broader digital thread.

Responsibilities

NX & CAD

  • Define, publish, and maintain the Wisk Way methodology for NX modeling, including modeling standards, drafting standards, layer/attribute conventions, MBD practices, and file/dataset organization.

  • Serve as the primary SME for NX modeling methodologies and engineering design practices across programs.

  • Review complex models for compliance and provide corrective feedback to engineering teams.

  • Lead cross-functional projects involving NX process development, MBD rollout, CAD maturity improvements, and digital thread integration.

  • Establish validation criteria, checklists, and automated quality gates for CAD data quality.

  • Collaborate with PLM and IT teams to ensure NX and Teamcenter integration supports Wisk Way practices.

  • Define requirements for tooling enhancements, NX, CAD validation tools (e.g., CADIQ), and workflow improvements.

  • Test and validate changes to NX configurations, templates, Reuse Library content, and Teamcenter item/dataset structures.

Training & User Enablement

  • Develop and deliver Wisk Way training materials, including in-person sessions, eLearning modules, and onboarding content.

  • Define, structure and coordinate the NX training sessions with users, management, PLM partners and executives.

  • Create coaching programs for Power Users and engineering teams to elevate modeling competency.

  • Provide structured feedback and support for engineering teams adopting new standards or workflows.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex NX modeling issues and CAD data inconsistencies.

  • Partner with PLM Support to resolve root causes, propose system or process fixes, and improve support documentation.

  • Assist with regression testing and validation during major NX upgrades or configuration changes.

Requirements:

  • University degree in engineering or a related field with at least 8 years of experience in aerospace design and PLM process deployment, with a strong emphasis on NX and MBD.

  • Deep expertise in Siemens NX, including MBD, PMI, assemblies, drafting, surfacing, expressions, and feature organization.

  • Strong understanding of Teamcenter Item Types, Datasets, Workflows, and CAD integrations.

  • Understanding of model-based engineering (MBE) and digital thread principles.

  • Proven ability to define and enforce CAD standards and modeling methodologies across large engineering teams.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across Engineering, PLM, Certification, and Manufacturing.

  • Experience mentoring, training users, and facilitating cross-functional working groups.

Wisk Aero's journey began in 2010 when its predecessor, Zee Aero, was founded with the backing of Google co-founder Larry Page, setting out to explore the possibilities of electric, vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) flight. This ambitious endeavor aimed to revolutionize urban transportation. In 2017, Zee Aero merged with Kitty Hawk, another company in Page's portfolio, which was known for its ultralight aircraft capable of vertical takeoff over open water. A significant milestone occurred in March 2018 when Kitty Hawk rebranded its Zee.Aero group as Cora. The following year, in June 2019, Kitty Hawk announced a pivotal partnership with aerospace giant Boeing, intending to combine Cora's innovations with Boeing's extensive scale and aerospace expertise. This collaboration culminated in December 2019 when the Cora team was rebranded and spun off as a separate entity: Wisk Aero. Initially, Wisk Aero was a joint venture between Boeing and Kitty Hawk Corporation.

Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Wisk embarked on its mission to develop self-flying eVTOL aircraft designed to operate as air taxis. Gary Gysin served as the CEO at the time of its formation. Under his leadership, in January 2020, Wisk announced its ambitious goal for its vehicles to be completely self-flying. The company has since developed multiple generations of aircraft and conducted over 1750 full-scale test flights. A major turning point in Wisk's evolution came in January 2022, when Boeing invested $450 million to further the development of these pilot-less flying taxis, making Wisk one of the most well-funded Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) companies globally. This significant investment underscored Boeing's commitment to Wisk's vision. Subsequently, in May 2023, Wisk Aero became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boeing, though it continues to operate independently, leveraging Boeing's development, testing, and certification expertise. Wisk is now focused on bringing its 6th generation aircraft, the first autonomous, four-passenger, electric air taxi, to market in the U.S., aiming to make safe, everyday flight a reality for everyone. In May 2025, Sebastien Vigneron was appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Brian Yutko who transitioned to a leadership role within Boeing.
