Head of Data Quality & Growth

Stay safe on Himalayas

Never send money to companies. Jobs on Himalayas will never require payment from applicants.

At WISEcode, data isn’t just the product - it is the company. Every missing barcode, incomplete panel, or inconsistent attribute limits what we can teach consumers, partners, and AI systems about our food.
This role exists to ensure that doesn’t happen.
You’ll be the connective tissue between engineering, product, operations, business, and the outside world - the one person who wakes up every day asking, “What’s still missing from our understanding of the food system?” - and then do something about it.

About the Role

The Head of Data Quality & Growth is not a typical data role. This isn’t about writing pipelines or tuning models - though you’ll deeply understand both. It’s about owning our food data universe: its breadth, its quality, its completeness, and its integrity.
You will be the czar, the shepherd, and the general of WISEcode’s data frontier - relentlessly identifying gaps, prioritizing what matters most, and rallying teams, partners, and processes to close those gaps. You’ll turn “unknowns” into “knowns,” “holes” into “coverage,” and “potential” into “impact.”
With significant effort and investment, we’ve built the world’s most comprehensive food database — with unique nutrition, ingredient, and outcome attribution that’s 1,000× richer and more precise than anything else in existence. But now we need someone with the passion, technical depth, and leadership to take it even further — leveraging today’s best tools in AI, cutting-edge science, and advanced data-tracking to continuously raise the bar and expand the frontier of our data universe.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Data Universe: Be the single point of accountability for the breadth, depth, and quality of WISEcode’s food and nutrition data.
  • Detect and Fill Gaps: Continuously map the voids - missing barcodes, incomplete nutrient panels, outdated categories, missing brands - and develop creative, scalable methods to fill them.
  • Mobilize Action: Coordinate across engineering, product, and operations to execute data acquisition and enrichment initiatives - from guerrilla collection campaigns to licensing data to business development partnerships.
  • Evangelize Quality: Build and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and narratives that make the state of our data visible to leadership and teams in real-time, driving urgency and focus.
  • Experiment & Scale: Pilot unconventional tactics - field data collection, agentic pipelines, partnerships with retail, AI-driven web scraping - to expand and improve the dataset.
  • Codify Standards: Define what “data completeness” and “data integrity” mean at WISEcode. Turn those definitions into repeatable processes and measurable results.
  • Collaborate Deeply: Partner with our data engineers, AI scientists, and product leaders to ensure every initiative improves the real-world outcomes for our users and partners.

Leadership Qualities

WISEcode leaders - regardless of title - are defined by how they show up, not just what they know. The Head of Data Quality & Growth must embody the kind of bias for action, clarity, and ownership that sets the pace for everyone else.
We’re looking for someone who demonstrates:
  • Sense of Urgency: You operate like the mission is on a deadline - because it is. You don’t wait for the perfect plan when momentum itself is the advantage.
  • GSD (Get Stuff Done) Mentality: You believe execution is everything. You follow through relentlessly, close loops, and finish what you start.
  • Extreme Ownership: You see data quality gaps not as someone else’s problem, but as an opportunity to lead. You’re allergic to “that’s not my job.”
  • Builder’s Mindset: You thrive in ambiguity and invent processes where none exists. You turn chaos into systems, and systems into results.
  • Clarity Under Pressure: You bring focus and composure to complex, cross-functional initiatives - translating vision into action with simple, clear direction.
  • High Standards, High Empathy: You demand excellence, but you also inspire it - elevating the people around you through candor, curiosity, and respect.
  • Mission-Driven Energy: You care deeply about food, truth, and integrity - and your leadership makes that conviction contagious.
  • Communication & Influence: You don’t rely on authority to move mountains. You lead through narrative, conviction, and alignment, pulling others toward your goal.
  • Persistence with Pragmatism: You chase perfection, but you know when to ship. You move the bar higher without getting stuck in analysis.
This is a high-trust, high-impact leadership role. The right person will set the cultural tone for how WISEcode approaches data - not just as a technical asset, but as a living organism that requires constant care, curiosity, and courage.

You Might Be a Fit If You:

  • Have 8+ years in data engineering, data science, or data operations, with a proven record of owning data completeness or data quality at scale. Though you may not need to write a single line of code because you are the orchestrator.
  • Are technical enough to understand how data moves - SQL, ETL/ELT, schemas, APIs - but strategic enough to decide which data truly matters.
  • Are both hands-on and mission-driven - you love getting your hands dirty but are inspired by solving systemic, world-impacting problems.
  • Have led cross-functional initiatives with high accountability and low ambiguity, especially where you had to “make it happen” without waiting for permission.
  • Thrive in startups or zero-to-one environments where speed, creativity, and self-direction matter more than hierarchy.
  • Are comfortable being the voice of “not good enough yet” - constantly pushing for higher quality, coverage, and integrity in the data.
