About Us

Wild Alaskan Company’s mission is to accelerate humanity’s transition to sustainable food systems by fostering meaningful, interconnected relationships between human beings, wild seafood and the planet.

We deliver wild-caught, sustainable seafood to households across the United States. Powered by our custom-built eCommerce platform and three generations of history and expertise in the Alaskan fishing industry, we constantly strive to meet our promise of a top-notch product and experience. And we do it all in a fully-remote environment that is fast-paced, challenging, and fun.

Description of Role

You're a puzzle-solver. You take a data-driven approach to the world, and you're not satisfied with "what happened.” You want to know why, and what to do about it. You love getting building models and getting deep in the weeds: pulling the data and tracing a variance to its root cause. You see AI not as a novelty but as an unfair advantage, and you're already putting it to work.

As an FP&A Analyst at Wild Alaskan Company, you'll be the second hire on a growing FP&A function, contributing to the hands-on analytical work that turns questions into answers. Reporting to the FP&A Manager, you'll maintain and build data-driven models that support business decisions, budgeting and forecasting, and our S&OP process. You'll run ad-hoc analyses for stakeholders across the company and help shape a growing business function. The work is deeply cross-functional: you'll partner regularly with stakeholders across Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, Product, Data, and Accounting, gaining broad exposure to how the business runs and building yourself into a trusted analytical partner across the company.

This is a new role, and a chance to grow with a scaling finance function in a mission-driven, fast-moving business.

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial modeling and analysis. Support and build structured financial models that guide specific decisions and surface actionable insights: vendor analyses, pricing & COGS scenarios, breakeven, opportunity cost, and member cohort & retention analyses.
  • S&OP, inventory forecasting, and pricing support. Contribute to the S&OP process alongside Supply Chain, Ops, Marketing, and Merchandising. Getting into the weeds on SKU-level forecasting accuracy, inventory analyses, margin visibility, pricing scenarios, and operational analyses across areas like packaging, dry ice, and shipping.
  • Budgegeting & forecasting support. Support annual budgeting, re-forecasting (as needed), and long-range planning cycles.
  • Month-end close support. Contribute to the monthly close through flux prep and variance analysis, selected reconciliations, financial statement preparation and/or reporting, and other duties as assigned.
  • Departmental reporting, variance analysis, and investigation. Investigate drivers behind variances at the cost-center and line-item level. Own departmental-level variance analysis as scoped with the FP&A Manager. Build and maintain deeper, operator-facing views as needed that complement summary reporting.
  • Continuous improvement, systems, and automation. Help improve financial systems, tools, models, and processes and processes as WAC scales. Use AI to automate repetitive work and turn one-off analyses into reusable tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Science, or a closely related field*
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in FP&A, accounting, corporate finance, consulting, banking, or a rotational/analyst program
  • Advanced Google Sheets / Excel modeling skills
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) integrated into real analytical workflows — not as a curiosity but as part of how you work
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills; ability to turn data into insight
  • Intellectual curiosity and a "why?" instinct — you don't stop at "X went up"
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Sterling work ethic; consistently delivers clear and complete work on schedule
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Genuine alignment with Wild Alaskan's mission — you care about sustainability, seafood, and the impact we're working to create
  • Comfortable working fully remote with a distributed team

Nice to Haves

  • Prior experience in startups, DTC, eCommerce, subscription, food, CPG, or inventory-heavy / manufacturing environments

  • Experience with Looker or comparable BI visualization platforms
  • Python experience
  • Familiarity with QBO, NetSuite, or other accounting / ERP platforms
  • Exposure to modern & emerging FP&A tools
  • Prior fully-remote work experience
