wattline GmbH is Germany's first and largest independent energy purchasing group, founded in 1999 by brothers Harald and Martin Praml. The company was established following the liberalization of the energy market, with the pioneering idea of bundling the energy needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to achieve the purchasing power of a major industrial customer. This collective approach allows wattline to secure wholesale prices for electricity and gas for its members, providing them with significant cost savings and long-term budget predictability. Today, the community comprises over 29,000 businesses, collectively representing an energy cost volume of more than two billion euros. This gives wattline a strong negotiating position with energy suppliers, enabling them to procure energy at the most opportune moments, independent of when the member actually needs it.

Headquartered in Ruderting, Bavaria, with additional offices in Leipzig and Salzburg, wattline has grown from a two-person startup to a team of over 200 employees. The company's services extend beyond simple energy procurement. They also operate as an independent metering point operator, offering digital meters that automate data transmission and streamline the process of switching suppliers, effectively reducing administrative burdens for their members. Membership in the wattline purchasing community is free of charge, with the company operating on a success-based model, earning a fee only on the initial savings achieved for a new member. wattline positions itself not as an energy supplier or producer, but as a dedicated partner to SMEs, actively promoting competition in the energy market and empowering businesses to manage their energy costs as a plannable resource rather than an unpredictable risk. The company is now managed by the founding brothers and Peter Langeder, who joined the management team to drive future growth and solidify its position as a leading purchasing group in Europe.
