Database Management & Development Intern
We are seeking a Database Management & Development Intern to work with our Fundraising and Philanthropy Team this summer. The Database Management & Development Intern will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our Raiser’s Edge donor management system while gaining valuable experience in nonprofit database management, data analysis, and fundraising operations.
Key Responsibilities
Database Maintenance & Optimization (40%):
- Clean and organize Raiser’s Edge donor management database by identifying duplicate records, standardizing data formats, and ensuring data integrity under close supervision while learning industry-standard database management practices
Data Entry & Quality Assurance (40%):
- Accurately input donor information, contact details, and transaction records into Raiser’s Edge system while developing attention to detail and data validation skills essential for nonprofit database management
Report Generation & Analysis (20%):
- Assist in creating donor reports, summaries, and fundraising analytics using Raiser’s Edge reporting tools and MS Office suite, gaining hands-on experience with data visualization and nonprofit metrics
- Professional Development & Training: Participate in structured learning opportunities, including database best practices, nonprofit data management principles, and Razor's Edge system optimization, while receiving mentorship from experienced data management professionals
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with development and administrative teams to understand data requirements, support fundraising initiatives, and contribute to organizational data strategy discussions
- Documentation & Process Improvement: Help maintain database procedures documentation and suggest process improvements based on hands-on experience, developing valuable technical writing and analytical thinking skills
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software systems quickly
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently while following detailed instructions
- Collaborative mindset and team-oriented approach
Learning Opportunities
- Master non-profit database management using Raiser’s Edge system
- Develop advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities

Desired Skills & Attributes
- Previous experience with database management systems or CRM platforms
- Coursework or experience in data analysis, statistics, or research methods
- Interest in the non-profit sector, international development, or social impact work
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Second language skills (French preferred)
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness
