Vaxcyte is a clinical-stage vaccine innovation company based in San Carlos, California, that is dedicated to creating high-fidelity vaccines to combat serious bacterial infections. We focus on critical pathogens such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Group A Streptococcus, periodontitis, and Shigella — diseases that signify an enormous public health burden due to their prevalence and impact. Our unique approach leverages advanced chemistry and modern synthetic techniques, including our proprietary XpressCF™ cell-free protein synthesis platform, allowing us to engineer vaccines that are both powerful and scalable.

The lead product candidate, VAX-24, is a 24-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) that has been granted FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease in adults. This innovation not only aims to cover the existing serotypes responsible for pneumococcal disease in circulation but is also anticipated to provide greater immunogenicity compared to traditional PCVs, thanks to our carrier-sparing technology. Following VAX-24, we are developing even broader candidates such as VAX-31 alongside preclinical programs targeting other serious bacterial infections.
