We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Developer Experience team. This team is dedicated to creating and optimizing tools and infrastructure that empower our developers to deliver high-quality software efficiently. A key focus of this role is to integrate AI-driven solutions to enhance developer workflows and experiences.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for setting strategy, leading your team to deliver results consistently and sustainably, growing and developing talented engineers, and cultivating a healthy, results-driven culture on your team to deliver significant value to our customers and enable our business to scale.

You’ll leverage your past experience and play a crucial role in laying the groundwork for a successful engineering organization, contributing to developing foundational processes that enable our entire team, and organization, to scale. Our business has an incredible product-market fit and effectively monetized since the day we signed our first customer.

In this role, you’ll be leading Vanta’s Developer Experience team, focusing on driving productivity experimentation and launch of AI powered tools that allow our engineering team to achieve optimal velocity. Finally, you will maintain and evolve the quantitative definition of developer productivity and leverage analysis to inform future decisions.

What you’ll do as an Engineering Manager at Vanta:

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers focused on developing world-class developer productivity tools and infrastructure.

  • Define and implement strategies for developer environments, source control, continuous integration (CI), test infrastructure, and release processes to enable rapid innovation while upholding high-security standards.

  • Drive the adoption and integration of AI tools designed to enhance developer productivity and experience.

  • Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and assess their applicability in streamlining development processes.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to deeply understand developer needs, identifying and implementing solutions that support secure and efficient development.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of AI-enhanced tools into the development workflow.

  • Design and refine processes that enhance team operations and continuously improve developer productivity as the organization scales.

  • Champion best practices for developer support tooling.

How to be successful in this role:

  • 3+ years of experience managing technical teams of six or more engineers.

  • Proven track record in building and improving development workflows and tools.

  • Demonstrated experience in integrating AI tools to enhance developer productivity is highly desirable.

  • Deep knowledge of modern development practices, including source control, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling.

  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts, particularly as they apply to developer tools and productivity enhancements.

  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in hiring, mentoring, and growing senior engineers.

  • Excellent communication skills to build consensus with stakeholders and articulate the benefits of AI-driven developer tools.

  • Experience building or experimenting with tools and environments for AI/ML development.

  • Expertise in security and privacy best practices for development infrastructure.

  • Experience managing initiatives across multiple products/teams.

  • Experience with large-scale monorepos and enabling extensive developer collaboration.
