Job Summary:

Senior Financial Analyst (Post-Award Management)– VICTR/IPPH

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is housed within the Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR) and is part of the administrative team for the Institute for Population and Public Health (IPPH), which supports multiple academic departments, centers, and institutes. As a key member of the research administration team, this role is responsible for overseeing post-award accounting and financial management functions for several units within IPPH.

Post-award sponsor funded accounting and management is a must.

This position will work normal business hours Monday – Friday and offers the opportunity to work remotely.

Supported by Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Office of Research and the NIH-sponsored Clinical and Translational Service Award (CTSA), the mission of the institute is to transform the way ideas and research discoveries make their way from origin to patient care. VICTR functions to help researchers and clinicians do their jobs better by providing tools and support to improve the quality of research, publications, grant writing, and training for future doctors and researchers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a member of the VICTR/IPPH research administration team

  • Manage post-award accounting functions for assigned areas in compliance with sponsor, institution, and federal guidelines and deadlines

  • Monitor compliance for research activities

  • Analyze and develop budgets, prepare financial projections, and coordinate allocation of project effort among multiple funding sources, including extramural and academic program support funds

  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to leaders and commitment recipients affiliated with IPPH/VICTR

  • Coordinate with team to develop and facilitate contract agreements with industry and sub-recipient partners

  • Serve as a resource to faculty and institute leadership on matters related to grants management and clinical trials administration

  • Serve as a business manager for the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society which may include but is not limited to:

  • Partner with faculty leaders and the IPPH administrative officer on personnel-related matters, including hiring, training, mentoring, and overall staff administration.

  • Serve as a co-supervisor for program staff, managing timecard approvals, conducting annual staff evaluations, and supporting professional development.

  • Act as the primary administrative point of contact for Center faculty, staff, and trainees, addressing operational needs and ensuring smooth communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience.

  • Extensive experience in research administration is preferred.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Strong experience in post-award research administration

  • Experience with clinical trials administration

  • Strong experience with accounting and financial responsibilities

  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and database applications

  • Professional work style with high level of problem solving skills

  • Communication skills reflecting a composed and experienced demeanor

  • Additionally, successful candidates will possess and demonstrate extraordinary attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while remaining helpful and courteous, be extremely organized, efficient, team player and self-starter.
