OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Director, Forensics and Collection will be responsible for managing the department, which includes client support and collecting and tracking all evidence collected or received by UnitedLex. This individual will be responsible for utilizing their depth of knowledge and their forensics skill set to lead the team performing Forensic Investigations of electronic data from collection through delivery. The role will also be responsible for the enhancement of the company’s forensics service offering(s). This is a remote position, and we welcome applicants from throughout the United States. REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Forensics, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
8+ years of experience in Forensic Services with at least 3+ years performing e-discovery related activities
- 5+ years experience managing/leading teams
- Complete understanding of Data Forensics and the full EDRM Model as it relates to all Cyber and eDiscovery processes
- Must have an extensive Windows, Mac/Linux, and Mobile Device knowledge base.
- Deep understanding of computer forensic tools, electronic collection utilities, forensic software and processes; including but not limited to processes such as AccessData FTK, EnCase Forensic/Enterprise, X1 Social Discovery, Cellebrite/XRY/Oxygen, Internet Evidence Finder, Forensic Explorer and X-Ways
- Strong knowledge of evidence handling and preservation best practices
- Experience with search technologies and tools, including: FTK, EnCase, NUIX, BlackLight, X-Ways, Cellebrite, X1, and all Forensic Imaging Software
- Proficient in the use of encryption, both hardware and software
- Displays outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working across multiple shores, time zones, and cultures to create a global team
- Able to work off hours and travel both domestically and internationally on short notice
- Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks.
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Skillful at analysis and troubleshooting of related systems components
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives
- Ability to develop/follow standard processes and complete documentation as needed
- Expert Witness Testimony, Affidavit submissions, or Legal Writing is preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically, as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage the Forensics & Collections department ensuring processes and procedures are aligned with industry standards and are of the highest quality
- Continually seek ways to improve, automate and increase quality in procedures and services related to Forensics & Collections
- Build out and implement new SOPs across the department
- Utilization and cost management of department to align with company revenue targets
- Support team in managing client expectations and serve as point of escalation for department
- Support business development in client meetings and RFP responses pertaining to Forensics & Collections related services
- Drive Forensics & Collections training requirements ensuring teams are adequately trained on industry tools and maintain appropriate certification levels with specific goals of cross training and level-up training to ensure no single points of failure
- Lead initiatives to improve Forensic & Collections related service offerings – Collaborate with the team and BD to ensure that UnitedLex is providing the best product offering available
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure data tracking and data handoffs are properly supported and integrated into company workflow/data tracking tools
- Support team to identify project risks early and plan for mitigation and minimization

Salary Range
The salary range for this role reflects the range of factors that inform case-by-case compensation decisions including education, experience, training, licensure, certification, and geography as well as the business and organizational needs specific to the role. Compensation ranges may be broad, reflecting flexibility within the budget and title to consider candidates of varied experience. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this role is $135,000 to $150,000 per year. Select roles are additionally eligible for Incentive Compensation in the form of our Annual Performance Bonus Program or Sales Commission Policy.
