Purpose of the Position:
The Director, Policy & Procedure Governance develops, updates, and maintains comprehensive policies, procedures, and associated governance frameworks across the organization. This role is essential for risk identification and reduction in a highly regulated environment, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the organization's strategic objectives and mission.

What you’ll do:

  1. Identify Governance Opportunities and Provide Guidance: Working across the organization, ascertain operational and administrative functions and procedures that would benefit from formalized or improved governance, and clearly and cogently recommend specific policies, procedures, training, and oversight mechanisms.
  2. Develop and Write Policies and Procedures: Capture and translate operational and administrative objectives and practices to create clear, concise, and comprehensive policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and external requirements.
  3. Catalog, Review, and Update Existing Policies and Procedures: Ensure consistent and accurate versioning of policies and procedures, define a review cadence and protocol, and review and update existing policies and procedures to ensure they remain accurate and compliant with external standards.
  4. Provide Training and Guidance: Train various impacted audiences regarding new and updated policies and procedures to ensure proper understanding and implementation. Provide implementation guidance, as well as guidance on ongoing monitoring, to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  5. Collaborate Cross-Functionally Effectively and Efficiently: Work closely with team members at all levels throughout the organization to gather necessary information, assess risk and current compliance, and ensure policies and procedures accurately reflect operational practices. Collaborate as needed with the Policy and Procedure Committee during the review process and communicate persuasively with leadership regarding findings and recommendations.
  6. Support Compliance Efforts: Participate in and lead compliance-related activities as needed (including monitoring, auditing, and investigations), contributing to consistent governance and adherence to internal and external requirements.
  7. Perform Other Duties as Assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a role or roles involving policy writing, implementation of governance controls, process management, or related functions.
  • Superior technical writing and editing skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to follow up on tasks until completion is confirmed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with individuals at all levels of an organization, including clear and concise communication with leadership.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in higher education and/or corporate law.
  • Experience in conducting policy-related trainings and/or investigations.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Compliance:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, and high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation Range$120,000—$130,000 USD
