About Tŝilhqot’in National Government
The Tŝilhqot'in National Government (TNG) was established in 1989 to meet the needs and represent the Tŝilhqot'in Nation and its six communities: Tl’etinqox, ʔEsdilagh, Yuneŝit’in, Tŝideldel, Tl’esqox, and Xeni Gwet’in. Our mission is to work tirelessly to re-establish a strong political government structure that echoes our rich history and culture. The TNG embodies the spirit and determination of our six war chiefs who, in 1864, valiantly defended our rights against encroachment by the Canadian Government. They fought for the realization of Tŝilhqot'in Aboriginal Rights and Title over our ancestral lands, a fight that continues today as we assert our land rights and governance.
At the TNG, there is a commitment to foster programs and initiatives that reflect Tŝilhqot'in culture and customs in every aspect of governance. Our dedicated teams work to ensure that our community's voice is heard, promoting health, education, economic opportunities, and cultural revitalization. We strive to protect our environment, wildlife, and sacred lands while advocating for sustainable development in our territories. As we move forward, the Tŝilhqot'in National Government will continue to lead our community in finding innovative pathways to excellence, upholding our rights, and nurturing our identity as proud Indigenous peoples.
