Stay safe on Himalayas

Never send money to companies. Jobs on Himalayas will never require payment from applicants.

Are you an experienced process technician who’s worked in complex process manufacturing environments?
Are you ready for a career change, stepping off shift, using your experience in a new way, and doing work that feels genuinely meaningful?
Do you love people, get a buzz from helping others grow, and fancy a fresh challenge?
If you’ve spent years running and maintaining continuous processes, start-up, steady state, troubleshooting, maintenance prep and safe shutdown and you’re now ready to help others become confident, safe and capable technicians… we’d love to hear from you.
We’re Tiro, a leading provider of science and technology apprenticeships. We’ve got big ambitions and we’re looking for a Work Based Learning Coach to support learners on our Process Manufacturing / Process Industry Technician apprenticeships — across sectors like chemicals, petrochemicals, hydrogen, oil and gas, and wider process manufacturing.
We’ve been helping hungry apprentices join ambitious businesses since 2005. At Tiro, we believe that great apprenticeships help everyone, because there are remarkable apprentices out there just waiting to be found, and fantastic employment opportunities waiting to be filled. Our work is never just about filling vacancies. It’s about changing the world. We’re helping to find people who are driving innovation in sustainable materials, improving the efficiency of UK manufacturing, and shaping the technologies of the future. And we’re proud to be playing our part.

The Role

In this role, you’ll be OBSESSED with developing the next generation of Process Manufacturing Technicians, the people who keep plants running safely, smoothly and to spec.
You’ll coach apprentices who work in highly controlled, complex process manufacturing environments using high-hazard inputs (think chemical-based products, stabilised crude, ethane, butane, methane, hydrogen and more). These are continuous, large-scale operations, often 24/7, where safety systems, control of work, and process discipline are everything.
You’ll tenaciously drive learner progress, keeping apprentices on track to complete their programme and build real workplace competence. Combining your plant credibility with brilliant coaching and mentoring, you’ll help learners connect the theory to what actually happens on site… when alarms go off, when quality drifts, when equipment needs isolating, when the plant needs bringing back online, and when “good enough” simply isn’t good enough.
You’ll support apprentices across areas like:
  • Safe operations in high-hazard environments (permit to work, isolations, SIMOPS, risk assessments, MOC awareness)
  • Running and maintaining continuous processes to operational parameters
  • Start-up, shutdown, and line/equipment changeovers
  • Quality assurance and records (batch/shift logs, trend checks, escalation and corrective actions)
  • Preparing equipment for maintenance and bringing it back online safely
  • Incident response, audits and continuous improvement
  • Regulatory compliance, environmental controls and sustainability
You’ll also be a strong relationship builder — working closely with employers, mentors and site teams (operations, lab, maintenance, engineering, supply chain) so every apprentice gets the support they need to succeed.
Please note: this role involves travel to employer sites to coach apprentices in the workplace.

About You

We’re not interested in a tick-box list of qualifications. We’re looking for someone who brings the right attitude, aptitude, and credibility.
You might be looking for a fresh challenge, a second career that still values everything you’ve learned in chemical/process manufacturing, but gives you a different kind of buzz. Maybe you’re ready to step away from shifts, turnarounds and callouts, and use your experience in a role that’s still practical, still technical… just more people-focused and purposeful.
You’ve built real credibility in complex process manufacturing environments — operating continuous plant safely, keeping processes within parameters, responding to deviations, managing quality, and working within strict HSE systems. You understand what it takes to run high-hazard processes day in, day out — and you’ve got the judgement that comes from living it.
Chances are, you’ve already been the person others lean on — mentoring apprentices, training up new starters, showing people “how it’s really done” on plant, and taking pride in seeing someone’s confidence grow. You enjoy developing others, explaining complex things in a simple way, and helping people level up safely and professionally.
Now you want to do more of that. You’ll be a calm, credible coach who builds trust quickly and helps apprentices become safe, capable technicians. You’ll be organised, self-motivated and motivated by progress — because there’s nothing better than watching someone go from unsure to unstoppable.
Even if you’ve never worked in education or apprenticeships before, don’t let that stop you. If you’ve got the industry experience and you’re excited by coaching the next generation — we can teach you the learning side.

Safeguarding
This role involves contact with learners aged 16 and over. Tiro is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all our learners, staff, and customers. We fully recognise our responsibilities for protecting vulnerable groups.
It is our policy to promote the safety, health, and well-being of everyone we work with. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken as part of your application, and if successful, you’ll be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for the position.

The Package

We LOVE people — the apprentices brimming with potential, the business leaders hungry for talent, and our brilliant team who make it all happen.
At Tiro, we’ll look after you because we’re nothing without our people. We’ll never take you for granted, and we’ll make sure work is rewarding, challenging, and fun. In turn, we’ll ask you to treat our clients and apprentices the same way — helping people get their big break and enabling businesses to grow.
You’ll receive:
  • Starting salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Holidays: 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Flexible working: Choose your own hours (37.5 per week)
  • Remote working: With travel expenses covered
  • Pension: 5% employee / 3% employer contribution
  • Perks: Staff events, away days, and regular CPD opportunities
  • Progression: Fantastic opportunities to grow with us
