We are Thors Design, and we transform reclaimed Azobé wood from decommissioned Danish wharves into simple, rustic, and stylish designer furniture. Our story began in 2002 when Carsten Thor, originally an automation mechanic, stumbled upon a stockpile of wood from Korsør's old ferry landing. Everyone else saw it as unusable, but Carsten saw potential. That 'impossible' challenge sparked the beginning of Thors Design. He took a leap of faith, stepping away from his career to explore what could be done with this unique wood. The initial years were tough; from 2003 to 2006, the company generated very little income. However, Carsten's perseverance paid off. In 2005, he crafted the first plank table, which has since become our signature product.

A turning point came in 2008 when we started to truly appreciate the patina and historical details embedded in the weathered outer layers of the wood. Instead of discarding these unique features, we began to highlight them, and that’s when the Thors Design you see today truly took shape. By 2010, the demand for rustic aesthetics soared, and so did our business. We are passionate about creating furniture that is meant to be used and loved for a lifetime. That's why we exclusively use quality materials and craft each piece to order, tailored to the individual wishes and needs of our customers. With two decades of experience, we've had the pleasure of furnishing spaces for private homes, corporate environments, and public sector projects. Our team is a small but vibrant group of individuals, each bringing their unique skills and passion to what we do. Though many of us didn't start in furniture design, we share a common dedication to our craft.
