We are looking for an experienced Medical Record Auditor (HIM Specialist) to join our Compliance team. We are looking for someone who has experience in this field and wants to bring their talents into a “for purpose” space. *This is a remote position based on Eastern Time. Talkspace Headquarters is located in NYC*

What You’ll Do

Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist:

  • Process internal/external requests for medical records, focusing on accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize proprietary systems for efficient medical coding and billing processes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure completeness and accuracy of medical documentation.
  • Review documentation in the proprietary platform, ensuring adherence to coding standards.
  • Log and track work in a designated database tracking system; promptly address any issues with the management team.
  • Independently manage time and priorities to facilitate the availability of comprehensive medical records.


Release of Information

  • Use proprietary systems to locate identifiers and process documents
  • Retrieve documentation from third party portals; communicate with third party vendors as necessary to ensure complete and accurate document retrieval
  • Independently organize and prioritize time to provide full medical record availability to customers and complete all related tasks
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all HIPAA, confidentiality and compliance regulations, rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures


Auditor and Leadership

  • Monitor daily work assignments, adjusting tasks based on priorities.
  • Perform quality reviews and audits of medical records, focusing on coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Report findings, potential issues, and trends to the supervisor.
  • Develop and enhance workflows, providing ongoing training to team members while reporting on progress.
  • Communicate with providers to ensure medical documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Perform chart reviews to ensure that documentation meets payor needs for medical necessity, coding support and treatment planning


Program Support

  • Fully complete logs and departmental documentation
  • Actively participate in process improvement, engagement, department, staff and other work meetings/teams


About You

  • General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School Diploma required
  • Knowledge of and experience with conflict resolution techniques and problem analysis/resolution skills preferred
  • Experience in working with valid authorization forms with patients, legal authorized representatives, attorneys, and court systems
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant positions
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)


Bonus Points

  • Associate or advanced degree in appropriate field
  • Medical Coder/Biller
  • Experience with Medicare and Medicaid

Compensation

At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our salary bands are based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.

The base salary range for this role is between $42,000 and $52,000. Within the salary bands, leveling corresponds to each candidate’s relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
