About Symmons Industries
In 1939, Paul Symmons took a tremendous risk during the throes of The Great Depression and opened his own company in the vacant Chickering Piano Building in Boston. Realizing there was a need for a product that could improve the showering experience, he developed the first anti-scald, pressure-balancing shower valve - a revolutionary invention that ensured water temperature stayed consistent even when someone flushed a toilet or ran a faucet elsewhere. This breakthrough not only made showers safer and more comfortable but also established Symmons as an innovator in the plumbing industry.
Eight decades later, the legacy of Paul Symmons lives on through the company that bears his name. Now headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, Symmons Industries has grown into a premier manufacturer of commercial and residential plumbing products, serving healthcare, hospitality, institutional, and multifamily environments. The company remains committed to quality craftsmanship and innovation, having introduced revolutionary products like the Temptrol® valve and the Evolution® IoT water management system. Despite challenges ranging from World War II to the global pandemic, Symmons has maintained its American roots, designing and manufacturing products that are built to last. Today, led by third-generation CEO Tim O'Keeffe, the company continues its founder's mission: to make things right.
