What you will be doing in the role of a Director of Community Development Strategy

The Director, Community Development Revenue Strategy is part of the Community Development leadership team. As the subject matter expert on driving increased revenue across the peer-to-peer and social events space, this individual will develop and coach to strategy while working in partnership with community development staff to deploy tactics for success.

What you will bring to the table

  • The Development Director will create and oversee the strategy, implementation and evaluation of the regional development team and fundraising specialists to enable and ensure revenue achievement across Community Development markets.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to advance the Race and Walk series with overall organizational revenue strategy. Provides ideas, resolution, strategy, plans for assessing capacity, implementing revenue support models and plans, and evaluating progress of Community Markets to achieve desired goals.
  • Work in partnership with program directors to ensure fundraising best practices and strategy for revenue are being developed and implemented for all Community Development campaigns with a focus on Race and Walk, social and ambassador programs.
  • Conduct regular strategy meetings with Regions and Markets to ensure best practices and timelines are being followed, gaps are identified, and strategies are developed to overcome barriers and increase results.
  • With the SVP and Community Development Vice Presidents, set strategic direction to local Markets for development and implementation of advanced fundraising, recruitment and corporate partner strategies resulting in increased revenue.
  • Lead the creation of cultivation strategy for programs top fundraisers and deepen Komen’s relationships with the Walk and Race communities.
  • Develop, cultivate, and manage strong working relationships and shared goals between
  • community market teams and area program directors.
  • Keep Community Development Market teams on track and motivated to achieve net return to mission goals for each market and for the programs overall.
  • Set strategy and provides ideas, resolution, strategy, and direction for assessing capacity, recommending revenue support models and plans, and evaluating progress of local Markets to achieve desired goals.
  • Create and implement annual planning process and development plan tool for Community Development aligned with the organizational strategic plan and Community Development priorities and strategic objectives. Create annual Race and Walk market planning meetings to develop strategies and tactical plans to achieve revenue growth and strategic objectives.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis of MTPW / RFTC programs revenue performance and benchmarking data to Community Development Vice Presidents, Development Program and Market Leadership.
  • Set strategy, key objectives and evaluation of fundraising specialist team. Develop a new way of engaging with and coaching participants across a range of experiential fundraising programs through fundraising and participant support coaches working over phone and email.
  • Create and implement revenue continuity plans for Community Markets experiencing staffing changes to deploy short-term Regional Development team. Set process for team deployment, develop a scope of work, evaluation and track impact on revenue.
  • Collaborates with appropriate internal and external resources to fill recognized gaps, develop resources and track in Salesforce.
  • Support the mentoring and development of a highly effective team of professionals, and promote a results-oriented culture that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Serve as a champion for accountability, integrity and transparency, and work with operations staff to support effective business practices.
  • All other duties as assigned.

We already know you will have

  • 7-10 years of experience in a range of peer-to-peer and event fundraising programs with a proven track record of achieving multi-million-dollar revenue goal
  • Deep understanding and experience in fundraising coaching strategies
  • Understanding of the motivators and recruitment and fundraising levers that power peer-to-peer and event fundraising programs
  • Strong management skills and demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and motivation to local community staff members.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated professional and mature interaction with other staff and leadership volunteers, sponsors, donors, and others to engage them toward the achievement of revenue goals.
  • Extensive knowledge of online communication and fundraising techniques and in-depth understanding of online event management through Blackbaud Team Raiser or similar platform.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with varying priorities at one time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively speak and present to small to mid-size groups. Willingness and ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to travel, including overnight stays up to 25% of the time.

We would love if you also have

  • Prior national / regional peer-to-peer fundraising management.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience overseeing at least $10M in revenue through peer-to-peer fundraising events.
  • Cross-functional team builder with a fundraising focus and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven Leader in the Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Space.
  • Ability to influence, educate and motivate diverse groups of people.
  • Blackbaud / Team raiser knowledge and experience.
