Supernormal emerged from a clear vision shared by co-founders Colin Treseler and Fabian Perez: to bring the future of work into the present. Their journey began in January 2020, fueled by their collective experiences in high-growth tech environments like Meta, Klarna, and GitHub. They recognized a critical gap – while meetings formed the backbone of collaboration and decision-making, the tools for capturing and leveraging the rich information within them hadn't kept pace with technological advancements. Brainstorming sessions would conclude, but the crucial takeaways often remained ephemeral, lost in the transition from discussion to action. This firsthand experience of inefficiency and the desire to reclaim valuable time became the catalyst for Supernormal.

The initial promise was bold and resonated deeply, especially as remote work became a global norm: 'you should never have to take meeting notes again.' What started as a solution to automate the tedious task of note-taking quickly evolved. Supernormal harnessed the power of artificial intelligence, initially focusing on providing seamless, AI-powered transcription and summarization for virtual meetings. This allowed users to stay fully present and engaged in conversations, knowing that key decisions, action items, and critical details were being meticulously captured. The platform's early success, serving hundreds of thousands of organizations across numerous countries, demonstrated the widespread need for such a tool. But this was just the beginning. Supernormal's ambition extended beyond passive note-taking. The team envisioned AI not just as an assistant, but as an active collaborator. This led to the development of more advanced features, including 'Norma,' an AI assistant capable of joining meetings, answering questions, and even brainstorming in real-time.
