JOB OVERVIEW

The Clinical Informatics Specialist supports the implementation, optimization and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s electronic health record (eHR) systems, including Sunrise CareConnect (PointClickCare) and associated clinical applications such as the electronic medication administration record (eMAR). This role collaborates closely with the Clinical Informatics team, care teams and cross-functional partners to design and enhance clinical workflows, ensure regulatory compliance and promote standardization across the organization. The Clinical Informatics Specialist also participates in system testing and validation, supports the development of reporting tools and dashboards and delivers end-user training in both classroom and one-on-one settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

The unique responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the essential functions listed as follows:• Provide day-to-day support to community and regional teams using Sunrise CareConnect (PointClickCare) and associated clinical applications, including eMAR• Collaborate with the Director Clinical Informatics, clinical leaders and cross-functional partners to promote the integration and standardization of clinical practices and systems across the organization• Partner with functional teams to evaluate, develop and implement clinical informatics programs and workflows• Design, test and optimize clinical documentation tools—such as assessments, care plans and ADL tasks—to enhance care delivery and compliance• Serve as a liaison between clinical users, IT teams and software vendors to support the development and implementation of technology solutions that promote safe, efficient and high-quality care• Collaborate with analytics teams to identify data trends and support quality improvement initiatives using clinical informatics insights• Promote the effective use of clinical technology, acting as a champion for innovation and continuous improvement in nursing practice• Consult with end users to analyze clinical workflows and identify opportunities for automation and improved documentation• Support system configuration, testing and troubleshooting in collaboration with system developers and end users• Assess the training needs of clinical staff and collaborate on curriculum development, designing and delivering training programs in classroom, virtual and one-on-one settings• Assist in the development and maintenance of end-user support resources, training materials and usage guidelines• Partner with clinical reimbursement to ensure alignment between documentation, billing and regulatory compliance• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulatory changes and best practices in clinical informatics• Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met• Perform other duties as assignedThis is a remote position with occasional travel (less than 20%) for training, meetings and onsite end-user support. Core Competencies:• Demonstrated understanding of electronic health record (EHR) systems—particularly PointClickCare and eMAR—along with the ability to configure, support and optimize clinical documentation tools to meet care delivery and compliance needs• Strong knowledge of clinical care standards and documentation requirements, with the ability to ensure systems and workflows remain compliant with evolving state, provincial and national regulations• Proven ability to work effectively with clinical leaders, IT teams, analytics teams and software vendors to translate clinical needs into system solutions that drive quality and consistency in care• Strong analytical thinking and process improvement skills, with a track record of evaluating workflows, identifying pain points and implementing practical, scalable technology solutions• Experience developing and delivering end-user training in various formats, with the ability to adapt content to different learning styles and support users through system changes Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.• Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing required• College degree preferred; formal training or certification in informatics or health information systems is a plus• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a fast-paced healthcare setting; prior experience working in a clinical informatics or EHR support role preferred• Hands-on experience with the design, implementation and use of electronic health record systems (e.g., PointClickCare or similar platforms) required• Experience supporting resident health systems or clinical documentation platforms in long-term care or senior living settings strongly preferred• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and user support• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language for clinical staff• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy• Must be a collaborative team player with the ability to work independently, manage competing tasks and maintain strict confidentiality
